This is one of my favorite ways to explain the gospel to young children. Each color represents a part of the gospel message along with a Bible verse that explains it.
Bible Message
Read I Corinthians 15: 3-4
Materials
- 8 1/2 x 11 size Black, red, white, yellow, and green construction paper
- Hole puncher
- Yarn
Instructions
First, layer the black, red, white, yellow and green pieces of construction paper in that order to look like a booklet. Then, on the left side of the booklet you will make 3 hole punches. First one is on the top left corner, then slide down and punch a hole in the middle, and then another one at the bottom left corner. Finally, thread a piece of yarn through each hole and secure in a knot. Make sure you don’t tie it too tight so that way you can easily turn each page.
Lesson
The words in this verse are called “the gospel” also known as the good news.
The first part of the verse says “how that Christ died for our sins.” Then, “ he was buried”, and finally “he rose again the third day.”
You can tell the gospel just using this verse in a few words. However, there’s another way we can share the gospel using no words. We can use the “Wordless Book.”

We use it by showing the colors and explaining them with Scriptures.
Black
First, we need to understand that we are ALL sinners. My heart was dark with sin.
Romans 3:23
Sin is anything we do, say, or think that breaks God’s law.
Red
Represents the blood of Jesus that paid the punishment for our sins. We have been bought back by the blood of Jesus. That means we are redeemed. Redemption means to be bought back.
Colossians 1:14
White
Represents God cleansing us from sin. When we confess our sins, God promises to cleanse us and make us white as snow.
I John 1:9
Yellow
Represents our future of walking the streets of gold. Jesus is preparing a place for us.
John 14:2-3
Green
Represents growing. When you accept Christ as your Savior, you will need to learn more about God and grow in knowledge of who He is. You do this by reading the Bible and praying. Also, going to church where you learn about God with other believers.
