This easy and fun to do, however adult supervision is required.
Please Note: Adult supervision is required.
Pioneer was an all day in class activity, and I did request for parent volunteers. I had enough adults to have to have a ratio of 1:4 one adult to 4 boys in a group. You can also do 2 boys in a group per adult if you need to. You will need 2.5 cm cubed wooden cubes. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for $3.99. They come in a bag of 16 pieces and measure 2.5 cubed.

Materials Needed:
- Hammer per group
- 1 nail per group
- 2 wooden 2.5 cm cubed cubes per student
- 1 pencil
Instructions
- First, place your boys in groups of 2 or 4.
- Then, pass out the materials: one hammer per group, one nail, one pencil, 2 cubes per student.
- Next, use the pencil and draw 1 dot on the first face, 2 dots on the second face, 3 dots on the third, and keep going till you have 6 dots on the last face.
- Then, take the nail and hammer it gently hammer the nail into each of the pencil markings. You only want to make an indentation that looks like a circle. Continue hammering all pencil markings on both dice.
- When finished, I have a suggested game below they could play while waiting for the others to be done.

Wooden Dice game
- Those who finish early can play a math game with the dice. Roll the dice and add the 2 faces, or switch it up and multiply the 2 faces. This is a great way to review those math facts.
